Employment – Chief Financial Officer

Chief Financial Officer:  Padlock Ranch Company is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join the management team of a dynamic and progressive agribusiness.  The CFO will be instrumental to Padlock Ranch achieving our five Elements of Purpose:  1) Financial Excellence; 2) Excellent People; 3) Natural Resources Sustainability; 4) Positive Member of the Community; 5) Serving as an Emblem for the Scott Family. This position will also be critical in helping to lead positive change and sustained business success.

Position Focus:   The CFO is a critical part of the executive management team for Padlock Ranch and will report to the CEO.  This position is responsible for planning, implementation, and oversight of the company’s management information system and overall financial management, including budgeting, accounting, inventories, and financial reporting.  Responsibilities include assuring the integrity of information by developing and maintaining necessary controls on company accounting and financial information.  The CFO will be asked to play an integral part in strategy development and will conduct analytics to evaluate business opportunities and define and communicate issues important to management.  The position will require an understanding of operations and will serve as an advisor to the CEO and the management team on various aspects of management.

Qualifications:  

  • Master’s Degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five-years of work experience in agribusiness finance or related field.  
  • Experience/knowledge in accrual, enterprise, and cost accounting.
  • Good communication skills and ability to function well in teams.   
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and skills. 
  • The ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Excel and other software.
  • Analytic ability using spreadsheet models and other tools.

Company:  Padlock Ranch Company was founded in 1943 by Homer and Mildred Scott, who’s family still owns the ranch today.  We are a diversified cow-calf, forage farming, and feedlot operation with 38 full-time employees.  The ranch covers over 400,000 acres with approximately 11,500 cows and 2,500 yearlings.  Padlock is headquartered on the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains near Dayton, Wyoming (20 miles NW of Sheridan, WY; 120 miles SE of Billings, MT).  The area offers good commerce, schools, and health care along with beautiful scenery and many recreation opportunities.  More information can be found at padlockranch.com.

Employment – Business Consultant

Farm Credit East has an open position for a business consultant in Maine.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: This job provides high level consulting services for a fee to Farm Credit East clients in the areas of intergenerational transfer, estate/retirement planning, entity selection and implementation, business dissolution, profitability improvement and business planning/ management. This position is expected to have seasoned knowledge in various business management topics including farm taxation, the interpersonal skills to work in a consultative manner with farm business people and the drive to seek out and sell sufficient consulting engagements to meet billing goals. This position requires travel primarily within Maine with occasional training/meeting travel to other parts of the Northeast.
