FFSC Marketing Programs Growing

By Brenda Duckworth

If you were in Kennewick, WA July 29-31 for the Farm Financial Standards Council yearly conference, then I probably don’t need to tell you about the fun we had. The group continues to grow, yet remains small enough to ensure comradery and open discussion.

As co-chair with Lance Fulton (HF Financial, LLC) to the marketing committee, I gave an update on our blogging program. We sure have learned a lot about blogging over this past year, thanks in part to Paul Neiffer (Clifton Larson Allen, LLP).

Paul has his own very successful blog (www.FarmCPAtoday.com), and he has shared a wealth of information with our group about the art of blogging, which he calls “Diarrhea of the Brain…” So, along the lines of his advice, along with what we have learned from experience, look for the Money Matters blog to be more thought-provoking and less instructional, however, we will do our best to provide links to the instructional piece, should you find a need for more detail.

As part of our outreach to the agricultural community, we will be attending several conferences and workshops in the coming year. You will likely see us at the NFRBMEA (National Farm and Ranch Business Management Education Association) and AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) annual conferences.

The Ag Finance Boot Camp 2015 was a big hit, even though the weather did her best to throw a wet blanket on it! With that success, we decided to partner again with Farm Futures in 2016 for another round. In addition, Keith Raynor (TRP CPA) will hold an Ag Financial Training in Clinton, NC, also in January 2016.

You can see that the Farm Financial Standards Council is on the move. We are far from a closed group, and in fact, we would love to have you join us. Whether you are a farmer, rancher, ag lender, ag accountant, or have any other affiliation with agriculture, you are welcome!
